I'm sure Thom is following it still, especially with Xavier Wise's bug reports.  I know for a fact that Thom has been trying to find this particular bug for close to a month now, and hopefully this will help him get it sorted.

Ok, we have finally admitted defeat in the TSN RP Community. We have now downgraded to 2.1.1 in order to have more stable games.

This is a real shame [frown] We are still hoping for some news on this.

That sounds pretty desperate. I'll try to get Thom on the case this week.

This forum has featured a lot of discussion about wish lists for 2.2.0, but as far as I know Thom has been unable to replicate the bug. Perhaps the useful crash reports have been lost in all the conversations about the upgrade buttons, power ups, and other things that DON'T make the game crash.

If anyone has posted a detailed crash bug report, could you please respond with a link to that report?

We have posted on this thread, providing details specific to the bug and screenshots of error messages. You are right though, a lot of conversation has been off topic and not helpful. Could we not get moderators on here to help out and delete stuff that is either spam, repetition or off topic?

I can try dig out the useful posts and repost as quotes if that would help out. We are reckoning it is to do with the positioning/ spawning of monsters. We nuked a load of kraliens last session and figured it destroyed a wreck and spawned piranhas. We reckon that is where the issue lies, particularly since it seem to be some kind of position error.

Give me a shout if I can help though!

Just looked through this whole thread and the first 2-3 pages of responses have NOTHING to do with any crash bug. I'd even go so far as to say that 5 out of 6 pages of responses are irrelevant and unhelpful. In the absence of moderators, can we ask all irrelevant posts to be removed so Thom can try and focus on the issue to fix it? So much of this thread seems to be about stuff that is a new feature, or suggestions of new features! It isn't really why Thom started this thread. We need to be supportive as a community, and that means a bit of self moderation, i.e. removing posts that are not focused entirely on the topic.

I intend to remove this (and a couple of others too) when I get some kind of confirmation from others in support, through removal of posts, or a quick response.

Lets make sure we are helping, not hindering.

*Edit* Just gone through and deleted my own posts that weren't relevant or helpful, aside from the most recent ones. What is left that has been posted by me was either done in the past few hours, or contains specific information about the game server crashing and what was happening at the time. I urge everyone to do the same.

Thanks, Xavier Wise. That helps.

I do not have moderator authority in these forums and, as far as I know, it has been a very long time since Brian logged in.

I just looked at Brian's profile. It has been nearly a year since he logged in. Holy smokes!

So much for moderation. The good news is that Thom has a plan to replace Brian soon, which should help with these forums. This person should also deal with the Trade Show Booth prizes, and he/she will get the ball rolling for Artemis Armada Two.

I have tentatively scheduled a crew to get together on my bridge this Sunday afternoon. I will study the posts in this thread so that crew can replicate the crash bug. Now all I need to do is get Thom to be present to observe the crashes.

Settings we have been using: Difficultys 8-10, Monsters set to off, Typicaly running 20-25 Clients (though we have experanced the issue with two ships only so 10 clients + 1 GM) the error message is the same as when a script trys to spawn a monster, or the error generated (sometimes) when a client trys to select new stations/join whilst a session is in progress. The Sever usuly does NOT crash but all the clients do.

Thanks, Fish Evans. I will replicate those conditions as best I can.

The good news is that Thom is available Sunday afternoon! He is very excited for the chance to replicate the problem.

Is the script in question always the TSNRP Sandbox? Or does it crash under other circumstances?

We have run solo games most often and a couple of co-op games. When we used the TSN Sandbox, we avoided spawning kraliens in order to avoid crashes, though it did limit us significantly. We did experience the same bug when destroying kraliens in the Sandbox however.

It is great to hear some news on this though, thanks Mike. If Thom would like to join our TSN session online one time and see the bug crop up there, he'd be welcome to. I know he probably has a busy schedule, but the guys online would really love it! If it would help with bug fixing.... we are at your service.

I will note that even if you ignore the "wishlist" items, there are still some bugs that have been pointed out in this thread. Not game-breaking, but in some cases they make the new features inaccessible, as in mission scripts.

1) Many of the secondary features associated with Torpedos are missing for the new PShock Torp. They can't be requested from bases, there are no DMX cues for them, and they cannot be accessed in missions.

2) Scan information for monsters often shows up pre-scan.

3) A monster's scan information is lost just before it dies. This could be related to the crash. Monsters also can change to the original monster appearance on clients, and this may also be related.

4) The new DMX cue for picking up an upgrade does not appear to be triggered.

I understand the points you are making ryleyra, and there are bugs in the game that need bringing to Thom's attention so that he can address them.

This thread was started by Thom to identify a specifc crash bug that has been occuring with the game however. Therefore, I would argue that any comment that does not specifically try to address or identify that crash bug should not be part of this thread. Instead, those other bugs should be posted in a separate topic thread in the development forums. Out of the four key points you outline above, only one actually relates to the issue raised by Thom.

Do you not agree that it would be more helpful to focus this thread on that specific crash bug Thom is hunting for and have a separate 'other bug' thread? This would surely make it easier for Thom to sort a major issue, then work on he more minor bug fixes after.
