Question for Thom, I suppose.

I think a common issue for us long-time players is the relatively slow development progress. I'm not sure that much can be done with that, barring the game going open-source or some such. But one thing that does seem conceivable is the notion of overhauling the art in the game. The graphics are rather dated. Would it be possible to do a Kickstarter just to overhaul the art assets in the game? The cost would be whatever it would cost to hire graphic artists/3D modelers or whoever to create new art (and maybe factoring in $$ for a single full-time developer for a month or two to speed up the integration?).

Hell Thom, you could even shoot for the moon and launch a "pay my salary for a year and I'll work on Artemis full-time" Kickstarter. What's the worst that could happen?

Thanks for reading!

I know I tend to be pessimistic about suggestions from the forums being taken up, although perhaps Mike or Mark could suggest it to him.

It's a good idea. And if he didn't get the amount he wanted he wouldn't be obliged to anything.

wasn't Artemis Steam-Greenlight-ed? isn't it basically the same thing?

if anything, art assets in Artemis would be second or third order of priority.... it's not that important to the function of the game.

Beeing Green lit is the equivilent of steam saying "okay you can put your product on steam for sale" a kickstarter is basicly a semi formal way of raising funds for something and a way of tracking and rewarding the stake holders that made your thing posible when or rather if it succeeds.

Shameless plug of the TSN Expansion. we have updated how asteroids look, added a few player shiptypes in the same vain as the origional player ships I also hightly recomend my 2K Sky boxes, a combination of theses make the game look a fair bit better.

Haveing said that I too would chip in to a kickstarter depending on the "goals" set.
