I am also interested in a slot at the Admiralty, if we are still taking submissions :)

It seesm like the admiralty group is going to player driven and organized, so now is as good a time to talk about it as any, though Im sure it will have to be fine tuned once the con starts.

I think you are both excellent choices. I may volunteer to join as well depending on need and how many of my own crew end up going to Armada. I also know that Dave Trinh is planning on going, so he would also be a good addition depending on how much time he wants to spend playing.

Im just spitballing here, but here is roughly how I see the organization of the Admiralty and Armada V ship operations at large;

Admiralty; Probably about 3  Admirals to cover various fronts if we are doing multiple things at the same time/cover if one is away from the Admiralty are (if they want to take a break/play, etc.) Maybe one person to create/update the tactical map. I imagine being a board guy will get pretty boring after awhile, so maybe take volunteers that can be rotated out or just have the admirals do it themselves? This is a big unknown as far as procedures, so Im sure there will be a learning curve. There will also need to be communication with the ships, but headsets probably wont be effective. Maybe speakers and desk mics? Not sure. Having actual speakers may just make all the noise worse, or it could add to the Star Wars/WWII feel.

The map; I don't think that there will be much point in updating the map unless it is going to be a long term change. Like, there isnt much point in putting a small group of krelians on the map when they are discovered if the TSN Battleship Kickass is about to turn them into scrap. However if the TSN scout ship RunAndHide finds a Krelian Inquisitor and they are NOT going to be engaging that thing by themselves, probably good to put on the board since it will be a persistent feature until dealt with. I also imagine that the VERY first thing we do once we get a bridge up and running on Friday is start doing scouting missions and map out the unknown sectors. Do the grunt work of building all the maps all at once all in the begging. Hopefully front loading the time intensive stuff and during the campaign it will just be relatively small updates rather than populating whole sectors with plastic figures.

Special note: We could even have a ship just park itself in a sector and watch. Wouldn't need to have a full crew, just a helmsman to run away if needed.

Its late, Im waiting for a print to finish before I go to bed and I'm bored so I thought I would do an update on the minis for the AAV Situation maps.

My boxes o minis so far:

20200307_040025.jpg
Current mini numbers are the following (my goal is to make WAY more than we need, so numbers reflect that):

12x Juggernaughts
18x Battleships
12x Dreadnaughts
12x Missle Cruisers
9x Mine Layers
15x Light Cruisers
20x Scouts

At least 6 of each pirate ship

46x Cargo ships
42x Transports
24x Destroyers
26x Escorts
12x Science Vessels
8x Luxury Liners

Around 150 complete asteroids and another 40 or so that didn't finish printing do to me clumsily turning off the power to the printer by mistake, but should still work just fine. Asteroids with Battleship.

I'm running experiments on the best way to print out space lifeforms, But I will start those soon. Here's a test run on top of a two tone run of space rocks:

I also plan to do some test runs for blue and yellow nebula markers. Im also trying to decide how important it is to have accurate station depictions. Those models are NOT easy to print. I may go for a more generic good guy/bad guy marker instead. Thoughts?

Looking fantastic!! Maybe we need to make a Gaslands conversion for after the convention, it'd be a shame to just let these sit in a box.

There won't be a huge number of stations to represent over the course of the weekend. Here is where a variety of faction logos would really come in handy, but we don't have any yet.

Dave Trinh is planning on attending.... just be aware he maybe an official crewmember of the Eastern Front 1st Light Recon Flagship, The Brigatine "Fulminatae" ….

but of course if he wants to "shag it with admirals"... who am I to complain... more loot for us!

While AAV has been postponed for the time being, I thought I would share the final round of minis.

Left to right; Nebula tokens (printed yellow on one side and blue on the other), Strongbow, Longbow, Space Dragon, Brigantine, Charybdis (sp?), Insect, Space Whale, Piranhas.

Still to do: Space Shark, Black hole markers and Space station markers. But Ill wait until AAV is rescheduled to finish those up. For now, its back to printing consoles.

Stay safe everyone.

big box o minis makes me happy. I'm looking forward to the day we can use them with the map!

as for the stations, is it possible to make a generic space mushroom to stand in for stations? It'll be clear it's a station and not a ship. It will also be stable. There seem to be some viable 3D models online inspired by a *ahem* similar universe.

I would totally buy a Brigatine (Longbow and Strongbow too!) so I can paint them up and add to my miniature collection.

Interesting thought. Since I didnt want to put the amount of work needed to make the stations printable, I was working on a token to use for the stations.

Untitled.jpg

The little diamond thing would be White (TSN) or Yellow (TAK) to show who controls it and then the base would have symbols or letters on those square parts to show what kind it is; Science, Industrial, Krelian, Torgoth, etc. Take a base and the base stays the same, but the diamond gets swapped out to the appropriate color. I suppose the diamond could really be replaced with anything as long as it prints well.

These particular minis are far better suited as game pieces rather than actual minis, but I can certainly print you out a ship or two if I know we are going to be at the same place. You can also download the models from Thingaverse and give them to a friend with a printer. I would have them printed out with a resin printer if possible.
