I am pleased to provide some updates for Armada IV that I hope will helpful to those of you (hopefully lots of you!) who are planning to attend.

  1. We are planning to release Artemis 2.7 (the version that will be used at Armada) in mid February. By providing the final version in advance, we hope that this will give everyone with special effects time to test those effects. Please bring your soldering iron if you want to go to the DMX effect workshop, but we really prefer to not have soldering in the ballroom.

  1. In addition to avoiding ballroom soldering, releasing the Armada version in advance will finally allow us to encourage fan-made mission scripts. We plan to offer a prize for the best fan-made mission script.

  1. Instead of a planned LARP and canonical battles, we opted for a more inclusive option in the form a murder mystery that anyone who is interested can participate in.

  1. Plan for a video booth! Choose from several short game mastered missions to get a video of your crew showing off their stuff. So please plan accordingly if you would like to make costumes. AVOID GREEN, unless you want to be a crew of floating heads.

Well, releasing 2.7 in February is good news. Are there still going to be challenge missions?

Yes, Notsabbat, there will be at least two challenge missions. One challenge mission will be for a TSN Light Cruiser and the other will be for a TSN carrier. If I feel ambitious I may make a third, possibly for a Ximni Battleship.

The challenge missions will keep score based on tonnage of enemy ships destroyed within a 48 minute time limit. They are designed to keep a full crew very busy so doubling up any one player to run two consoles will be difficult.

Instead of compelling all crews to play the challenge missions simultaneously, the current plan is to allow crews to play the challenges repeatedly at different difficulty levels. We will maintain some sort of leaderboard for the different challenges at various difficulty levels.

Awesome!

Flying a Ximni Battleship would be super cool as well.

ParPar: Yeah, I'm not crazy about all the changes, but I think it will keep people in the ballroom more and socializing, so I'm optimistic. No matter what, it's always a good time with that many Arty nerds in one place.

Im getting all the badges purchased for my crew. How important is it to have an individual email for each person? We also have a ship email address that I can use to forward info to the attendees, is that acceptable as well?

I'll be registering a bridge crew in the next day or two. I was one person short, but we now have enough.
