ARDENT ADVENTURES

So after it's been requested here is an updated version of mission one of the Ardent Campaign! Added in a few extra bits and configured it with Comms buttons. There's lots for the different consoles to do and if you're just used to straight up combat missions I hope you'll find this interesting.

Combat is about a difficulty 5 BUT you can adjust the difficulty to whatever you want before the missions start which will make the enemies harder and have other effects on some aspects of the mission.

To play the mission download the attached zip file, open the zip file and copy the folder into the Missions folder inside your local Artemis files.

If you have issues, suggestions and hopefully a fun time please post how it went in this thread or e-mail. I'd love to hear tales of your daring adventures. 😃

So my crew enjoyed their training run on the default Siege mission, but were looking for something more focused.

Without spoiling the plot, what kind of experience would this be for us?

@Longbowman

Hi, Long time no see. Depends on the demand. Took a bit longer than I expected to update and add new stuff in.

@Janx     -     Hopeful a good one?

There is a lot more to do than just the standard mission, with the opportunity fot role play and extra stuff for the different stations.

Some events happen on the rest of the ship with the non-bridge crew being given orders through COMMs.

Since this my first scripted mission im not sure what to expect. I'm doing a dry run by myself to see what to expect. Do events happen at random or are they trigged by something the stations do? When I load mission and attach the stations I only see 2 other ships and 2 stations. No baddies. I tried flying around and nothing seems to be happening. I'm sure that I'm doing something incorrectly, is there a write up as to what to expect? Does this require a GM? Sorry for all the questions but like I said in totally new to running missions.

Make sure you have the Comms console selected and check for messages from the stations. I'm sure Arrew can tell you more, but that's always a good place to start with scripted missions.

Ryleyra is right. Instructions and background info goes through COMMs. A lot happens via COMMs in this one so your COMMs player should be nice and busy. Additional COMMs buttons will appear as required during the game.

To start with your mission to deliver an Ambassador to the ship called the Varren, in an attempt to bring peace to this part of space. But be warned, unknown forces are keen to keep the status quo.

Tried out this mission with a new group on Monday. They very much enjoyed it. Only issue that we had was in the very beginning. The ship was going at speed 4 (the helmsman was new), and the comms officer couldn't inform the captain fast enough of things that were going on. If I run it again, I think I'd tell the crew that the Ambassador suffers from space sickness and can't go faster than warp 2. 😉

Ok well now I'm hooked on missions! My wife and I had a few other couples over to play. We started with a couple of the standard Siege missions then I switched it up with this scripted missions. I am the only veteran but we all are Star Trek fans so when I said "lets try a mission, you know like the Enterprise." everybody was ready. I had done a dry run so I had an idea of what to expect but let the Captain decide course of action, I was on Science. Without letting on too much... we didn't make it out! Afterward everyone was ready for more missions. I really look forward to the adventures of the crew of the Ardent in future episodes!

Smart idea.
Typically most crew keep to low speeds to conserve energy, warp 1 @250% was the most efficient sustainable last time we ran the numbers.
Going faster or using Jump Drive the mission should still play, but does mean that COMMs has to sort through more messages which can be difficult with the new COMMs layout.

When I used to GM I’d always do a dry run first, before I played with a crew. There are some GM commands to help with that in the script.

I respect the decisions of those that don’t “make it out”. But I tried to give different stations more to do and in the case of the Captain, it’s making the tough calls.

There are a number of other missions after this one that tell a Star Trek type story. Haven’t been updated yet. Depends on feedback and when/if I get free time.

Thanks for the feedback, good to know you guys enjoyed it.

"Please save us! This is a civilian transport! We have women, children and eggs aboard! You can't leave us to die! We are of one nest! I beg you!"

Still a great moral dilemma for any captain... Gives me goosebumps every time a new captain has to face it. Again and again.

Is there a remote chance you could update other missions to 2.6 or even 2.7?
