Hello!

I just played through Episode 1 (on version 2.1.1.1) myself and it was quite fun.

I'm having a full crew over to tomorrow, about half of which have played Artemis 2-4 times, and the other half which have never played it.  Wanted to test out all the setups before they arrived.

Few questions:
1.  This campaign looks great, but seems like one of the later missions might have trouble with 2.1.1.1 (I think I read)?  Should I run another campaign instead do you think?

1a.  Is it better to play the campaigns in order?  Or can the crew jump right to Ardent Season 3?  Or STAR?  What would you suggest for a half new crew.  This is a group that very much likes story.

2.  I tried to save both ships [smile]  Kudos on not letting that happen.

3.  Does the plot affect which ship the players save.  I saved the diplomats, but which ship gets saved tomorrow would really depend on who is captain.

Well, thanks for playing.

1. You can jump around. In fact I'd suggest that you do. These are my first missions with some of the programming was not done in the editor so it's a bit "messy".
Later ones have better programming and are more stable, because I've learnt more. BUT the combat gets more difficult. To compensate for that season 4 has a feature that lets you remove enemies to make it easier.
I should tell you I've completed all the missions on level one in a battleship. What can I say I like overkill [wink] . And thats on one PC and on whatever version of Artemis it was at the time of uploading.

I've updated these missions a bit but the problem with my missions is that I have too many! I think I have topped over 30 now! So maintaining them is a job all by itself. And the GM Sandbox I made is so powerful it makes a lot of the work redundant, but of course it requires a GM. And pre made scripts are a fun story for everyone.

MY SUGGESTION
For a Star Trek feel I’d suggest the STAR Corps. More Sci-Fiy and the combat, if handled correctly, is not too challenging.
For more of a military feel I’d suggest Season 4. Although the mission Changeling has a bit of a surprise and some interesting game mechanics [wink] . So act quickly on that one Captains!

1a - Na you don’t have too. Season 2 are all stand alone missions. Season 3 and 4 are divided into mini campaigns that can be played in any order. If your interested in the overall sorry I will upload an overall write up of the plot, ala TV Show style, in the future.

2 Bless you. So would I. This one is a brutal lesson in command. One I don’t think I would learn if it were real.
3 What about the children! How could you [wink] . You know saving the diplomats is quite a popular option. Way more than I thought it would be.
Originally the game was going to be non-linnier where depending how you finished the last mission you would start a different one this time. But the amount of work involved Vs the demand meant that it didn’t happen. So, at the moment, the later missions assume you saved the Civilian Transport. Sorry about that. I may release an ALT in future that acts like you saved the diplomats.

Oh I should say some of the STAR Corps missions use Generic Meshes for planets so you might need to make sure all clients have a copy of the mission in their Artemis folder.

In season 4 I have released a regular and an "ugly" planet version of missions with generic meshes. Ugly planet versions can be used with the files only on the Host... But of course they dont look as nice [wink] .

Would these be the most current versions of Season one?

I have tried to make the adventures more than just go here and destroy that. The captain will have to make life and death decisions and certain roles are of particular importance on different missions.

The missions have all been tested and are made with a full crew in mind. Although I crewed all stations on difficulty level 1. So please increase the difficulty to an appropriate level for your crew’s skill.

TO INSTALL:        Download the xml files or open the documents, right click and save the files to your computer. Create and put them in a folder with the same name as the xml file and then put the folder in the Artemis Missions folder.

The default location being:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Artemis\dat\Missions

I hope you like playing the missions as much as I did making them. Please feel free to give positive feedback if you enjoy them. I'll try and add a pole to record which missions you like.

hummmm... maybe <LOL>.

I live in China so I'm actually blocked from my own dropbox. As soon as I can get a PVN for an hour or two I'll check it out to be sure.

But it should be. I'm pretty sure I repaired Ep04 to function on a network before.

No, thank you!!!
I didn't think anyone would be interested in these older missions. [biggrin]

So thank you for playing.

After getting my lighting rig set up, I thought we should dip our toes in the missions, and I started with Ardent.  Got through 1, got stuck on 2 (didn't look in the nebula) tried 3, which was quite good, but were playing on too high a difficulty and our ship was pretty beat up when we went "through the looking glass" and didn't survive very long after that.  Definitely enjoyed them, so I wanted to thank you for all the effort you clearly put in to these missions!

Thanks!

Thanks Nodecam. Always surprised, and happy, when someone plays one of the old ones.

A tip for through the looking glass. Its a rescue mission, once your through, so you don't have to engage with every enemy. With luck and enough energy and speed you can navigate around them and make it back without a fight.

Last night my crew and I played Ardent mission 1 as our first departure from the generic scenarios.  The server was on v2.0.1 and we had laptops with v2.1.1 plus iOS and Android devices all playing with zero trouble.  Most fun I've had playing a game in a while.  Most of the crew aren't roleplaying enthusiasts, but at the end when I gambled and tried to save both the diplomats and the civilians, they were behind me 100%, even when the space storm came rushing up on us like a demon from hell.

So, hats off to you (literally), Arrew.  Thanks for adding to the community. We're looking forward to playing through more missions in future sessions.

Thanks Jaemez.

It's awesome to hear that people like what I make. Makes me feel like it was time well spent.

I'm always nervous when people post on the older missions though <LOL>. Always afraid it's bugged or something [biggrin] . Also I made them when I was pretty new to Artemis so the Combat challenge is pretty light. If you want more combat consider the later missions. That being said I don't know if anyone has ever really finished all of them and know the complete story...

So thanks again for letting me know how it went. Your crew, KIA as they were, will be remembered for their heroics I'm sure. [wink]

Two first missions, Arrew, is it only me like it is for Artemis' side?... To end the mission, the Ardent has to leave the final zone after having entered in it, it doesn't end when she enters in it first (A5 and the "southern" zone respectively). I'm curious about that.

Do you mean you start there and nothing happens and later you go there and it ends the mission?

Would you believe I'm a scripting wizard [wink] .

Just kidding. That's actually pretty easy. Take a look at the scripting to see how it works.

The scripting looks correct. But in game, it is only when you leave the kitchen that you can start cooking, if it makes more sense.
