At last the training mission is ready! Here it is:

This is your chance to develop the TSN tactics for beating the dreaded Kralien Inquisitor!

Find ways to use our new Arvonian allies to best effect in beating this dreaded foe.

This is the first in a series of training missions to prepare your crews for the war at Artemis Armada V, where you will face many Inquisitor class ships.

I did a test run on the script and it is auto failing as soon as the mission starts.

Running 2.7.1 on a windows 7 machine.

AAV-2.jpg

One instance as sever and another as all stations including fighter. Initially did not select level or ship, then tried it after selecting lvl5, no change. Then I selected TSN Dreadnought manually, same result.

I upgraded my 2.7.1 to 2.7.2 and completed the above steps, same result.

I noticed that there were 3 XML files named MISS_Armada_V_Training, ~MISS_Armada_V_Training and ~~MISS_Armada_V_Training. I assumed that these were version f the script and changed MISS_Armada_V_Training to ~~~MISS_Armada_V_Training and ~~MISS_Armada_V_Training to MISS_Armada_V_Training, since it was the one most recently modified before the file without a "~".

That did play, but crashed pretty early on in Version 2.7.2. I changed back to 2.7.1 and made the above changes on the mission. Same effect.

I ran ~~MISS_Armada_V_Training as MISS_Armada_V_Training and the mission seemed to run fine, though Ill admit I wasn't able to kill the Inquisitor by myself.

Ill assume that the script will probably crash once the inquisitor is destroyed if it is the same version that was played at the chili cookoff.

Looking at the script it seems that the Player Briefing had 'Mission Failure' triggers repeated in it by accident.  I commented out lines 65-67 in the XML file and it worked fine.

<!--<big_message title="Mission Failed" subtitle1="You made a valiant effort but in the end" subtitle2="your ship was overwhelmed." />-->
<!--<set_timer name="endint_timer" seconds="8" />-->
<!--<set_variable name="terminate" value="1" integer="yes" />-->

An enjoyably challenging mission that would greatly benefit from a full crew (I was testing this by myself).

Ill give that a go.

*edit* I haven't played through it again, but that seems to have done it. There isnt a lose on startup with the above xml mod.

Good catch, sixpack, but the problem was not the trigger, it was the mission ending itself. The real ending actually exists in a different part of the code. That code accidentally got dropped there when I inserted a time delay just before uploading.

The file is now fixed and should work correctly.
