So this could be moved to off topic but I just wanted to share something. I normally turn off the game music and play my own. I’ve put in a link to the song I was listening to at the time. Take a listen. Two Steps From Hell rock!  Also please share your Artemis soundtrack of choice...

So I’m in a light cruiser, not usually my ship of choice, playtesting a mission script.

The ship is in a bad way. So many red dots on my damage display the ship looks like its got measles. A final wave of 8 Skaraan ships is closing in from 11 o’clock. I’m down to two mines, a handful of homings and even less DamCon Droids. The rest of the Bridge Crew are dead or incapacitated, I’m flying solo (story of my life huh guys [wink] ). Surrender... the escape pods... more than not an option they’re unthinkable. My family are on that last Habitat Station! There’s no more time left. There’s no more options left. I arm the remaining mines and, with warp at only 80%, set a course for the centre of the Skaraan fleet. If my death buys a few more minutes to evacuate the station, so be it...

What I could have docked you say? What! Don’t ruin the gravitas of my moment with your Vulcan logic!

I just love those against all possible odds, sacrifice moments. In movies too they make the hairs on my arms stand on end. Like the first 5 minutes of star trek reboot. I love it.

Anyways what music do you listen to when you play?

That's a great idea - my boys like to listen to the Halo soundtrack, which I think is a bit too moody.  I'm a classic rock kind of guy.  I bet if you did a Pandora channel of this type of music it would give you a nice variety and keep it interesting.

Pandora Channel?

There is a Halo track, "never forget" I really like. I'm thinking of working it into the last Ardent mission.

Kind of the fair well sound track [wink] .

Well... just ran across this now... Arrew, next time you get on the TS, have your VPN booted up. I have QUITE a few youtube links to send to you... Have you ever heard of the channel MrEpicOSTs? If not, go look him up... Now...........

My own personal favorite modern day composer is probably Sawano with Kajiura being in a VERY close second. Audiomachine and Two Steps From Hell are also great. Immediate Music is also definately worth listening to.

Oh god... I have WAY too many songs to show you...

Yours truly,
A huge OST freak.

I had to google OST - so I'll share...

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soundtrack

"The abbreviation OST is often used to describe the musical soundtrack on a recorded medium, such as CD, and it stands for Original Soundtrack; however, it is sometimes also used to differentiate the original music heard and recorded versus a rerecording or cover of the music."

Although in this context it appears to reference movie or ambient sound tracks.

The reason why it references movie or ambient sound tracks is because those CDs are actually marketed as OSTs and listed as OSTs in stores here. If you want to find the soundtrack for a movie, you dont find a category named Soundtrack, you find one labeled OST.
