Is there an ETA update that can be given for Artemis 2.2.0 in development for Android and IOS?

Since I don't know where you are in the development phase of the IOS and android apps. I'll would humbly put in some requests.

Remove the green shield triangle. I would love to get the ship outline back.

Possible improvements on overall rendering.  I believe I've noticed some improvements in the OS that allows faster high-quality rendering. Has the IOS team recoded for metal?

The observer screen is of lower quality rendering then the main view on IOS currently.

Skins and Mods. Can they be added through in game purchases? I wouldn't mind paying a small price to acquire these so I could play with my PC counterparts.

I believe the ship outlines were removed from iOS because it caused a problem with the app. This will probably not be restored as long as iOS continues to have problems with it.

Right now neither Android nor iOS ports allow modifications. I have played around with this myself, but it's very difficult to fix. Android and Apple don't allow their apps to be modified the same way PC apps can be. Putting up the individual mods and skins in the app store would require the author of that mod to do it, Thom doesn't have access to that.

As for the original post, I don't think 2.2.0 will ever be released for tablets. More likely, the next release coming out in April will be the version released.

When I look at the flight simulators applications on the iOS, they allow you to purchase specific aircraft along with their attributes. Would  this not be the same with the mods and skins?

As to the author of the mod that is a big No! They must cut a deal with techbear and be approved as an official mod in order to be sold.

I would like to see techbear and company be rewarded similar to star citizen.

And a graphic of a triangle over the graphic of a ship, how did that cause problems?

Well, this app has a different licensing strategy than most. The players are encouraged to develop their own mods, even mods that break the gameplay in various ways, or which make use of copyrighted properties such as Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica. This takes a lot of the work off of Thom/techbear, but unfortunately keeps those expansions off of Android and iOS.

Now, I suppose Thom could have people submit mods for "official" status and make them available for download. It would work, and I'm sure someone could even figure out how to use the update system for the various tablet OS's to deploy them to the installation of Artemis.

However, what I would like if to find out if Thom can make a portion of the Artemis installation available in the user's directory space. It is usually possible for word processors and image galleries to access the user directories, either on the SD card or the main user accessible area. Artemis's configuration and mission files are just text files, and textures and meshes are images, so it should be possible. The problem is that everything is just rolled up in an apk and posted to the app store.

I've actually been trying to do that myself, but so far the results haven't been promising.

Just so I understand, Are you on IOS or android development team for techbear. Or was this an educated opinion?

Thom used a company to develop the mobile apps, since he's not a mobile developer.

Thom has said he'd like for clients to be able to receive files from a server - at the moment, there's no way to load up new mission scripts, let alone mods. His idea was that you'd be able to just push files from a server to the clients. That would allow mods, mission scripts, new sky boxes, and anything else to be shared from the server out to the clients. It also removes any responsibility from Thom for monitoring contents - use at your own risk, etc etc.

That being said, there is no way in hell there's going to be any way for official Star Trek or BSG mods anywhere, let alone App Stores. Let's all agree that that's a very poor idea in a C&D-rich environment.

I can speak to iOS dev, not Android.  The mods mostly tend toward image, configuration file settings.  It ought to be fairly easy to use the app's document directory on the device to store the "updated/new/changed" files, and then to set the program to take the default settings and then stomp over them with anything it finds in the app's document directory.  These could be drag/dropped within iTunes to the app's files.  To return to the "default installation" would then just be deleting all the files the owner put with the application.  If it crashes... well, it crashes...  User deletes the offending files, and the app runs again.  The actual application wouldn't need to be changed dynamically; it just needs to give precedence to the user's documents for images/configuration.

I agree that Star Trek and BSG mods can NOT be officially sanctioned. And must be left to the end-user.

I was looking to the the fresh creative, new custom design ships that can push the Artemis project foreword. Creative that belongs to Artemis brand. As an example I saw post by Arrew. This mod  would be a logical  extension of the Artemis application and I would pay for  in app purchase.

One other input: please fix the bug that prevents entering the Server URL by any keypress on the on-screen keyboard being interpreted at an "enter". It seems to be an issue with certain devices that have Android v5.0.* & >, mostly stock (or close to it) android devices, i.e. Nexus models, Samsung Galaxy, GTC One M8, etc. All issues seem to be primarily with the stock android keyboard, but I also cannot get it to work with a 3rd party keyboard.

My Setup:
Nexus 6
Fully Stock (no root, no jallbreak)
Android 6.0.1

These screenshots are from an iPad Air 2. I don't know if the skyboxes are too small or the render needs to be improved.

I was running a test on shadows in the diffuse and in the specular files. Since I can only Mod a Windows machine, I set the iPad Pro as the server. This allowed me to connect the Windows 10 PC as the Observer window. When trying to doc at a station the frame rate started to stutter. When I broke free of the docking beam the frame rate return to normal and I was able to slowly circle the station.

I guess the IOS code needs a little of love.
