19th Perimeter Action Fleet
Starting Up

The 19th Perimeter Action Fleet is part the Sigma Draconis Command (DRACOM) of the Imperial Star Navy, a concept we came up with that details a world history in which nations combined into an global Empire with a ruling Imperial Council after a third world war that threw earth into an apocalyptic recovery period. In an effort to prevent any other global conflicts or risking the world being thrown back into darker times the Empire was created. These countries united and began reaching to the stars as an Imperial Star Navy.

Who we are. There are three founding members that have played all manner of cooperative games and found that we enjoy playing games with other people in a structured environment better than with pick up games. Two of the members are fairly new to Artemis but look forward to playing it more often and hopefully with larger crews and multiple ships. We have a plan of growth and a fleet design concept in the works already. What we need are more people to man the crews and if you want, to help with some basic concepts.

Primarily we are looking for people to join and become crew members to play Artemis as part of a structured team with Departments and specialties in our fleet, under a Chain of Command. We plan on creating a Naval Academy to teach new players about Artemis that also gives them the feel of earning their Ensign bar. We also plan on creating new and unique awards and decorations for our members. Eventually we want to create campaigns where each mission will affect the creation of the next mission so a starship's successes or failures effect the outcome of the campaign. And each campaign will effect things in our fictional 'verse.

For example if you succeed in a campaign, we might up the scan range of our sensors or increase the fire rate of our beam weapons. And failures might have bad effects such as us loosing a sector of space and having to attempt to retake it later.

So if you are interested in becoming a founder of the unit and are interested in helping create policies, creating training plans, becoming an instructor, with a goal of commanding your own ship, and most importantly if you want to play Artemis in a fiction structured naval environment; private message me, or come check us out at:

Our come chat with us at:

ts3.raider6.us

Keep in mind that our website is currently a work in progress so there will be incomplete sections filled with spacer material or dry erase board concept drawings. You're welcome to help with ideas for design of that as well. [wink]

Imperial Naval Academy

While things have been slow going, with only three people coming to our website/Teamspeak then not showing any interest in joining, we have had to work on things alone. After creating a comprehensive list of ship names we are looking to use as we grow, we then set our sights on standardizing training. Toward this end we have created an academy style format. Bear in mind that none of the following is set in stone and is subject to change should we ever actually have anyone join us to assist.

M1 - Midshipman4C-20.png

Cadet Phase I

When a new member joins they enter a naval academy class and start off as a Midshipman 4th Class (Midn4). During this phase of training cadets go through Fleet Orientation Training; learning our history, academy structure, fleet organization, rank structure, customs and courtesies. Once completed they are promoted to Midshipman 3rd Class and move on to the next phase.

M2 - Midshipman3C-20.png

Cadet Phase II

During this phase each Midn3 learns the basics of each of the ship board stations; Command, Flight, Engineering, Weapons, Sensors (Sci), and Comms. Once they have learned the basics of each station they are promoted to Midshipman 2nd Class and move on to the next phase.

M3 - Midshipman2C-20.png

Cadet Phase III

During this phase each Midn2 decides on a department specialty and attends advanced training in that specific duty station; Flight, Engineering, Weapons, Sensors, or Comms. They also attend Shipboard Operations classes learning how a ship operations; Command (Bridge protocols, watch standing, etc), N1 Administration (Transfer proceddures, service member record books, etc), N2 Intelligence (Intell gathering, Intel Briefs, etc), N3 Operations (SOPs, combat operations, etc), N4 Logistics (Energy replenishment, weapons replenishment, etc), N5 Planning & Targeting (Patrol planning, target prioritization, etc), N6 Communications (bridge comms procedures, report writing, etc), N7 Training (Training Plans, FTXs & LFXs, etc). Once they have completed these classes they are promoted to Midshipman 1st Class and move on to the next phase.

M4 - Midshipman1C-20.png

Cadet Phase IV

During this phase each Midn1 catches up on any classes they may need refreshers on. They also rotate in the Command Department of an academy training vessel as they await assignment to a fleet starship for their cadet cruise. During their cadet cruise they are assigned to an active fleet vessel within the department of their chosen specialty. They are evaluated by the Department Head, Ships XO and CO and after a specified amount of time the ships CO forwards his recommendation to the academy Commandant. With approval the cadet is promoted to Ensign and then assigned to the fleet.

Graduation

Once a Midshipman has completed all necessary training and has been checked off on his cadet cruise he is eligible to be promoted to Ensign. This should take approximately fifteen to thirty days depending on how active a member is, though longer time is acceptable for those that need it. After promotion to Ensign a member makes a list of his preferred ship assignments, preferably based on the activity times of he ship. Once assigned they continue to learn and gather experience. While a member can remain just a member of a department for their career, they can also look toward advancement to Department Head, Executive Officer, or even a coveted command of their own, and even a chance at entering the naval command structure to influence policy, campaigns, etc.  Though right now with only two people, the chances for all of that is greatly increased. [wink]

Since I hate to leave things open ended as I considered that disrespectful to a community...

The 19th Perimeter Action Fleet is closing down before it has even gotten off the ground. Lack of support. Moving on now.

Thanks anyway and enjoy the game.

This is surprising to me. Thom said that this fall Artemis had a big spike in new sales, just about the time of Hawk's second message. I wonder why online play would slump at the same time.(?)

Could be college crews getting back together in person, introducing new crew and playing locally.
